Kirbla trio

In Western-Estonia, Kirbla, there lived a man called Jaan Rand (1879-1943) who was excellent player of parmupill, kannel and lõõts. Katariin, Leanne Barbo and Natali Ponetajev – each masters of one of the instrument which Jaan was playing, bring the music back to life. The music of Jaan Rand has such an amazing flow and freedom in the structure which makes it so enjoyable to navigate in.
The repertoire consists of two type of dance tunes – labajalgs (estonian old 3-part dance) and polkas and this has been also the main dance repertoire of West Estonia as many other parts of Estonia before the more modern social dances appeared.

Katariin Raska – parmupill
Leanne Barbo – kannel
Natali Ponetajev – lõõts
